Rock Crystal Comes to Life at the Cluny Museum

Tracing the universal history of rock crystal, from fascination to an understanding of its structure, is the ambition of this exhibition, which brings together two hundred objects from museums around the world at the Musée de Cluny, in Paris.

The subject is complex, and its presentation is both original and eclectic. For the first time, the Musée de Cluny is exhibiting objects from the prehistoric era to the 21st century: 200 pieces, half of which are not from the Middle Ages ! Isabelle Bardiès-Fronty, general curator, and Stéphane Pennec, archaeologist, have devised an itinerary inspired by George Sand's fantastic tale Laura, voyage dans le cristal, "organized in six acts" and which "diffracts into twelve chapters".
