Pierre Camille Marie LE FAGUAYS (1892-1962). L'Avenir, circa 1925. Studio plaster. Signed lower right. Dim. 66 x 24.5 cm. Exhibition: illustrated and described in: France Amérique, (October 2022 - April 2023), Cité d'architecture, Trocadéro, Paris. The present relief is a particularly eloquent neoclassical image by the sculptor. It depicts an allegorical female figure of superb proportions and refined drapery. While her head and left hand look to the past, her right hand points to the future, with its promise of beauty, harmony, elegance and serenity. Works by Le Faguays are held in numerous museum collections, including those of the Musée d'Orsay, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and Casa Lis in Salamanca, among others.
