Walter Burley Griffin (1876-1937). Stained glass, circa 1910. Glass and lead. Various sizes. Dim. 65x22.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Chicago, Illinois. Very similar examples of these windows are in the Capitol Arcade, Melbourne, Australia. Griffin was one of the protagonists of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Prairie School". He worked for Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Oak Park Studio. Griffin's first commission was for the landscaped grounds of the State Normal School in Charleston, Illinois, known as Eastern Illinois University. From 1899 to 1914, Griffin designed over 130 buildings, mostly in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin.
