"Pierre LOUYS - The Adventures of King Pausole
Published by L'Estampe Moderne, Paris, 1930 - A fine, well-bound copy of the first edition of this sublime work, one of illustrator Umberto Brunelleschi's finest productions. 17 illustrations by Brunelleschi, including 9 hors-texte, etched by Gorvel and stenciled by Saudé, some enhanced with gold or silver.
Beautiful modern binding signed Th, Roux in full blue morocco, protected by a half morocco folder, all in its matching slipcase. Numbered copy 1, one of 6 copies of the first edition on Japon with a black suite of each illustration, countersigned by the artist, the original watercolor is missing. The 4 announced suites are not present. The quality of the stencil rendering is impressive and remarkably beautiful.
