"George BARBIER and Jean-Louis VAUDOYER - Album dedicated to Tamar Karsavina Published by Collections Pierre Corrard, Paris, 1914 - First edition of this beautiful "Art Deco" album paying tribute to the famous Russian dancer Tamar Karsavina. Illustrated by George Barbier with 16 compositions, 12 of which are full-page, stencil-colored, a black-and-gold composition on the cover and 3 black compositions. An exceptional rendering of Barbier's characteristic illustration work. The dancer Tamara Karsavina, famous for her beauty, was one of the most important ballerinas in Serge Diaghilev's Russian ballets. One of 512 numbered copies on arches vellum. Beautiful modern conservation folder into which the book, as issued, has been slipped, in paperback with filled cover, very good condition, covers a little sunned. The poems and illustrations retrace the dancer's greatest roles, namely Cleopatra, Le Pavillon d'Armide, Le Spectre de la rose, Jeux, Narcisse, L'Oiseau de feu, Thamar, Carnaval, Scheherazade, Les Sylphides, Salomé, Daphnis et Chloé and Petrushka.
