Round pommel, single-branch hilt, donkey step and bivalve shell with openwork foliage decoration.
Copper filigree spindle. Wrought-iron frame. Triangular blade engraved in thirds, signed "GIBERT Md Fourbisseur Place St Croix à Angers".
Mid 18th century.

GIBERT, merchant forger in Angers in 1756-1763. This signature is found on sergeant's swords. Gibert used blades from the Manufacture de la marque à l'extrafin in Solingen.
