Long-tail cap with lion's head. Brass handle. Brass openwork shell frame depicting a helmeted allegory standing on a barrel and holding a lictor beam. Beautiful curved blade with flat back, gutter and counter-edge, one-third gilded and blued, engraved on one side with "Vaincre ou mourir" ("Win or Die") and on the other side with a figure holding a shield engraved with "La Nation" ("The Nation"). Leather scabbard with three brass fittings and splints.
