PRESENTATION OF LOTS 1 to 20 Paul TOUZET was born on January 12, 1917. From the age of 13, he trained as a jeweler, notably with Mauboussin in Paris (see training certificate). He registered with the Registre du Commerce on November 17, 1944, and obtained his hallmark on December 7, 1944. His master mark is ""P.A.T. / a bicycle wheel butterfly"". He was struck off the Register of Trades on March 29, 1946. Between 1944 and 1956, he worked in collaboration with Roger BURG. The workshops are located at 23 boulevard des Capucines, then at 76 rue Daniel Casanova, and finally at 5 rue Mayran, Paris. Roger Burg's hallmark is ""R / a horse's head / B"", and he and Paul Touzet formed Burg & Cie between 1944 and 1956. Between 1956 and the end of his activity in the 1970s, Paul Touzet was probably a bedroom designer and jeweler. In the aftermath of the Second World War, it was common for a designer/jeweler to offer his designs to various jewelry and haute joaillerie houses. In the collection of over 300 jewelry drawings we are offering in this vacation, we see drawings from 1945 to 1970, ranging from Tank style to bestiary to artist's jewelry. By family tradition, Paul Touzet is reputed to have worked with VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, BOUCHERON and STERLE. In the case of artist's jewelry, we note several drawings inspired by the imagination of Georges BRAQUE, as well as a photograph of a drawing enhanced and signed by Jean COCTEAU. Some of the jewels offered in this sale were made for the family of Paul Touzet, but unfortunately do not bear his hallmark. This practice was common when jewelers made objects for their friends and family. This set of jewelry designs is a typical example of French and Parisian jewelry production during the Trentes Glorieuses. Again by family tradition, Mr. Paul TOUZET is said to have made jewelry for Charles Aznavour, tuxedo buttons that he delivered himself to Prince Rainier of Monaco, and jewelry for his wife Grace Kelly.
