'Born in 1988 in Lebanon, Sara Abou Mrad is what we call a phenomenon, a kind of meteor from Lebanon, this land where East and West meet and which offer the world the myths of Europe and Adonis. Sara's pictorial work is located precisely at the confluence of these two cultures and feeds on myths created by her amazing imagination, such as Matilda, this woman with heavy breasts who survives all trials, or Sleeper, this one-armed man who walks stubbornly.
You have to see Sara at work in her studio in Zalka, colorful clothes, in the middle of her paint cans, brush in hand, retouching a large hanging canvas, to measure the passion and creativity of this artist who quickly found her place in the Lebanese artistic landscape.
Sara Abou Mrad's works result from a synthesis, a recomposition, translating emotions mixed at the same time with dreams, desires and memories. Hence its symbolic style, surreal and dreamlike, which at times recalls the universe of William Blake.'
