The modernist sculptor was a leading figure of contemporary art in Croatia. In 1959 he cofounded Gorgona, an influential collective. Kožarić’s exhibition history includes the Venice Biennale (1976), São Paulo Biennale (1979) and a major survey at the Haus der Kunst in Munich organized by Okwui Enwezor (2013).
