It is the end of an era. On 28 January, Félix Marcilhac, 78, died while napping at home in Marrakech with his German shepherd, César, at his side. A key player on the Art Nouveau and Art Deco market who loved the 1920s, he was an antique dealer, expert, collector and historian.

Marcilhac, who died in Marrakech on January 29, was one of the foremost figures of the market of art nouveau and art deco, both in his Paris gallery and as a specialist at auctions. He also used his expertise to publish reference books on artists such as Lalique, Dunand, and Majorelle.

In uniting 300 pieces from its collection, the Bibliothèque Nationale explores a century of photography through the work of Félix, Adrien and Paul Nadar.
