Marino Marini (1901-1980)

This plaster sculpture sheds light on the origins of a myth: that of Marino Marini's The Angel of the City, known all over the world through the provocative version standing at the entrance of the Guggenheim Foundation in Venice, on the Grand Canal.

Two sculptures, one by Marino Marini of a man on a horse, the other a bird by François-Xavier Lalanne, were the highlights of this decorative arts auction.

Illustrator of children’s books Gianna Marino said April 13 that she had reported the theft of 20 penguin illustrations to the police.
