Tulip - Adam Ludwig Wirsing for Christoph Jakob Trew, 1750-1786 Portrait of the tulip "La Coquine" [the naughty], copper engraving made by Adam Ludwig Wirsing, for Christoph Jakob Trew's "Hortus Nitidissimis Omnem per Annum Superbiens Floribus Sive Amoenissimorum Florum Imagines" [A year in a brilliant garden of exquisite flowers represented in beautiful pictures] published in three parts between 1750-1786. With original hand-colouring. Size (print) approx. 44 x 26 cm. Each plate had to picture the flower as beautiful as possible, scientific details were less important. The Hortus Nitidissimis is considered to be one of the most lavishly decorated florilegia.
