MAISON BOUDET - EXCEPTIONAL PAIR OF VERMEIL SALTERONS 19th C. Exceptional pair of vermeil salerons featuring a triton blowing into a conch shell, amidst two large shells set on an oval base with foliate contours. The marine theme here is inspired by the "Neptune" basin at Versailles and a centerpiece made by Emile Froment Meurice for the Duke Medina Celi, now in the Royal Palace in Madrid. This work can be attributed to Boudet, 43 boulevard des Capucines, Paris. Example: Important pair of silver and vermeil rafraichissoirs and their adherent display stands. Late 19th century, executed by the BOUDET firm. (photo attached) Dimensions: length 24 cm - width 13.4 cm - height 16.5 cm Material : Silver vermeil 1st quality 950/°°°°. Weight: 2900 grams Marks : MINERVE and SANGLIER Period : XIXth century Goldsmith : Attributed to Victor BOUDET rhombus with trace of a silversmith's initial Origin: France/PARIS Victor Boudet was a chasing silversmith who registered his hallmark in 1894. His workshop at 43 Boulevard des Capucines was still in operation in 1902, before he moved. These magnificent salerons do not appear to have been hallmarked. It is therefore likely that Boudet chased this piece with great virtuosity, but it is impossible to be sure that he was the goldsmith.
