Great mythological painting from the mid-17th century. Oil artwork on canvas depicting a magnificent Bacchus based on the prototype of the painting the allegory of the month of October by the German painter Joachim Von Sandrat (1606-1688). The God is in fact represented as an allegory of the month of the harvest with his usual characteristics, a purple-red cloth, a magnificent fur coat and a crown of vine leaves. The drunken God has another figure behind him who helps him drink while behind him we see a group of men and women partying. A painting of notable pictorial quality, which can be seen in particular in the creation of the details of the robe and in the masterful use of the chiaroscuro technique to create volume and sculpt the powerful muscles of the Roman God with light. Artwork that has undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some small points. Overall in excellent state of conservation. H 149 x W 128 x D 2 cm
