Splendid monochrome painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork of extraordinary pictorial quality attributable to the Flemish painter Jacob de Wit (1695-1754), lacking authenticity. Specializing in interior decorations in Rococo style, he worked mainly between Amsterdam and Antwerp and even today many buildings retain his works. Member of the Guild of Saint Luke, his stylistic signature will be optical illusionism. In fact, in our painting the figures seem three-dimensional, sculpted in space so much so that they look like a bas-relief. All this through a masterful use of grisaille, a monochrome painting that reproduces lights and shadows through various shades of grey. A very pleasant painting with Cupid at the center of the scene next to some doves, while very tender putti play with his bow, shooting arrows everywhere. 20th century frame in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated, with some signs of aging. Artwork that has undergone restoration with relining and replacement of the frame, overall in excellent state of conservation. Sight size H 110 x W 157 cm. H 128 x W 173 x D 4 cm
