A Vitrine-cabinet-on-stand attributed to Gabriel Viardot. A very nice maple and sycomore trees coloured in mahagony way vitrine-cabinet-on-stand on four scrolled legs. Gilt bronze decoration and red velvet lined interior. The legs decorated with Fô dogs joined by a pierced "chinoisant" platforme. A cubic upper part with two shelves opens by a glass door. In very good condition. Between 1880 and 1890. A similar vitrine at the Musée d'Orsay. France. 19th century. Dimensions : Height : 159 cm ; Width : 72 cm ; Depth : 41 cm. Gabriel Viardot (1830 - 1904) was a cabinetmaker working in Paris specialised in "japonisme" furniture adapted to European taste. He participated in the Universal Exhibiton in Paris in 1889 and was awarded by a gold medal. He obtained the same medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1900.
