Great Italian painting from the first half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork from the Tuscan school depicting a splendid religious subject, Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus is traveling and decides to stop to drink water. He approaches a well and asks a woman of Samaritan origins for a drink. For the Jews, the Samaritans were heretics, so they avoided them and did not speak to them. Christ doesn't care about all this and the woman reacts with amazement. Painting of extraordinary pictorial quality in all respects. Note the elegance of the drapery, the variety of colors, the beauty of the landscape and very refined details such as Jesus' halo which almost looks like a jewel. Exceptional contemporary frame in carved, lacquered and gilded wood, with some small defects and signs of aging (see photo). It has an antique collectible sealing wax on the back (see photo). Painting that has undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some small points. Overall in good state of conservation. Sight size H 128 x W 99 cm. H 158 x W 128 x D 12 cm
