A Lantern in Louis XVI Style.
A rare and nice gilt bronze four light lantern with a glass smoke screen opening with one door. Marquee with linked branches topped with four bells. Decorated with pearl chains and small bells, pearls, knots and acorns.
Nice mat and burnished gilding.
The lantern is complete and in good condition. It is rare for lanterns to keep their original smoke screen, which is the case for our lantern.
The Louis XVI lanterns in shape of the pagoda are rare, corresponding to the taste of the "Chinoiserie" popular during this period. A model in the same spirit at the Fontainebleau castle.
France.
End of the 18th - beginning of the 19th centuries.
