Great Italian painting from the first half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork attributable to a follower of Antonio Allegri known as Correggio (1489-1534). Painting of excellent pictorial quality as a high-quality copy of a fragment of the Martyrdom of four Saints now preserved in the Galleria Nazionale in Parma. In fact, the painting in question depicts only the right part of the original canvas which tells the story of the martyrdom of four young people, children of the Roman patrician Tertullus: Placido and Flavia in the foreground and Eutichio and Vittorino in the background. In our painting we see only Flavia who is pierced in the breast while a flying angel holds the palm of martyrdom. In the background we find the decapitated body of one of her brothers. 20th century frame in carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting in some places. Overall in good condition. Sight size H 144 x W 98 cm. H 159 x W 112 x D 5 cm
