Schmid's Patent Water Engine, 1873 0 series motor by Albert Schmid in Zurich, engineered 1870, built from 1871 onwards, introduced at the 1873 World's Fair in Vienna. Driven by water pressure, oscillating double-action cylinder, flywheel Ø 23 in., overall size 47 x 27 ½ x 32 in., probably the first industrial water motor, still regulated via a governor - later models do not have this form of speed control.
