EXCEPTIONAL PAIR OF Candle holders in silver, GERMANY, HANOVER between 1708-1714 by the master goldsmith A.D. They rest on an octagonal foot with slight notches at the corners. A net-moulded torus surrounds the base of the umbilicus forming a plain groove engraved with the arms of Grand Elector and Duke of Hanover, encrypted around the "G.L.C." coat of arms. The lower collar with eight moving sides receives a baluster-shaped rod with the same decoration. The model bottle is in the shape of a medicis vase and is topped with a double circular moulding. Each candleholder has an inventory number under the foot: n° 2 for one and n° 20 for the other. Pds. 1740 g. Height. 22 cm. The arms are those of George I Louis of Brunswick-Lüneburg (28 May 1660, Osnabrück, Lower Saxony - 11 June 1727, Osnabrück), as an elector of Hanover, Prince of the Holy German Empire, then King of Great Britain and Ireland under the name of George I on 1 August 1714.
