CHINE - Époque KANGXI (1662-1722) SUITE DE TROIS BOLS Polychrome enamelled porcelain H. 9 cm, D. 19 cm Restorations Expert - Philippe Delalande These three bowls, with green, yellow and manganese decoration known as "harlequin", made at the time of one of the greatest emperors of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) belong to the sancai ("three colours") typology. This term refers to Chinese ceramics whose decorations have glazes of three or more colours. This technique was used as early as the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the yellow from iron oxide, the green from copper oxide and the brown from manganese.
