Chamberlain's key to the arms of Tsar Nicholas I (1825-1855).
The richly chiselled single-sided ring of a two-headed eagle, with outstretched wings, studded with small armoured shields from different parts of the Empire. The claws encircle the sceptre and the armillary sphere. The ring is topped by the imperial crown. Bossette chiselled with ivy leaves.
The stem, with a fully grooved shaft, is enriched with a leafy ribbon wound in a spiral, over the entire height of the stem. Thin flat bit pierced and engraved with four-lobed interlacing.
