Bronze chamberlain's key in the figure of Nicholas the First. The single-sided ring chiselled in high relief with two eagles in profile, wings spread, crowned and supporting the imperial crown. They hold the sceptre and the armillary sphere on either side of the ring. In the centre is a monogrammed shield. The hump is chiselled with two palmettes flaring out below the ring. The stem is entirely fluted and richly chiselled with a spiral garland of foliage all along the shaft. It is finished by a small thin and flat bit with an X. Bronze finely chased and gilded. Russia. Chamberlain's key of Tsar Nicholas I (1825-1855). 19th century. Height: 17,8 cm
