Chamberlain's key with the figure of Franz Joseph of Austria (1830-1916).
The important ring is chiselled with a two-headed eagle, wings spread out, charged in the centre with a monogrammed elective in the numeral of Franz Joseph and surmounted by the imperial crown. In its talons, the eagle holds the sword on one side and a twig on the other. The ring is extended at the top and bottom by a curious rod consisting of two solid, cylindrical tubes arranged in parallel, both enhanced by a spiral winding of ribbon wrapped around the shaft.
Chased and gilt bronze.
