Rare iron furniture keystone, pierced and chiselled from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The ring is adorned with a large fleur-de-lys, chiselled in a round bump and surrounded by a three-lobed lace. The whole is inscribed within a large oval ring that was originally crowned with a small ornament. The flattened spherical hump, enhanced by mouldings and fillets, is surmounted by a large octagonal-cut plate. The stem is triangular in cross-section and is pierced by a triangle. Bit with a double projecting muzzle and rakes, pierced with various wheels (oxidation).
Elegant French work with an infrequent pattern and a high quality of execution.
Late 16th or early 17th century.
