Very beautiful Louis XIV period knocker in loop of satchel. The buckle shows two facing C's richly chiselled with moving leaves. In the lower part, they maintain a strong flattened sphere, molded and chiselled with a double frieze of ornaments. In the upper part, they support the two buttresses that support the shaft cage. The surface of the flying buttresses is worked in a recessed pattern and decorated at the top with a very finely chiselled finial. Their lower part is lined with an overhanging wavy leaf. The large flattened rectangular cage, the curved front, is entirely chiselled in light relief with two crossed sticks and leafy branches all tied with a ribbon in the centre. The lower part of the lace has an upside down bollard, also worked in a routed shape, finished with a strong chiselled seed. In the upper part, it ends with a bell-shaped ornament, worked in a knockout shape, chiselled in relief in the centre of a six-pointed star and topped with a small seed.
