The dynasty of the Sandoz family combines the tradition of goldsmithing and jewellery with the need for industrial arts.
Predestined for an artistic career, Gérard Sandoz, manager of the family firm and uncle of the decorator Paul Follot, showed a pronounced taste for drawing at an early age.
From the 1920s to the mid-1930s, he designed jewellery models and goldsmith's pieces for the company, in a pure, harmonious and balanced style, using precious materials with the geometric shapes typical of the Art Deco period.
Along with Jean Fouquet and Raymond Templier, Gérard Sandoz is considered one of the greatest jewellers and goldsmiths of the Art Deco period.
"Gérard Sandoz seduces by the perfect harmony of his proportions"
René Chavance, Furniture and Decoration, August-September 1924
