Louis-Ferdinand céline (1894-1961) L.A.S. "LFCéline" to the Lyon-based journalist Charles Deshayes. Copenhagen, July 20 [1947]. 2 pp. in-folio. Stamped envelope enclosed. Beautiful letter of exile from a desperate Celine: "You are certainly a thousand times right, but on the other hand, I still have an arrest warrant in due form in my ass (article 75). I've suffered too much in prison. I have no way to make a living anymore. I've lost everything. Must I still be an insurgent? Is it worse playing the fool? Of course we all know that there is no longer any purely French policy. It's a matter of state reasons or sordid alliances with this or that bloc. But why should I, a poor individual, meddle in these high negotiations between Princes! I am being crushed! The proof! And it is well done for me. All I had to do was mind my own business, my own
