Two gilded and chased copper plaques with champlevé enamel. Limoges. France. Romanesque. Circa 1225 - 1250.
Each plaque is richly and magnificently decorated with dark blue, sky blue, lapis lazuli blue, turquoise, green, white, red and yellow toned enamels. In the upper part are two medallions with an angel inside, resting on a cloud, surrounded by scroll decoration of foliage and flowers. The quality of the chasing is outstanding, as well as the great chromatic variety of the enamel. In a magnificent state of preservation.
21 x 10 cm. each.
