"Seat of Wisdom (Sedes Sapientiae)". Carved and polychromed wooden sculpture. Romanesque. 13th century.The Virgin Mary, sitting on her throne of glory, is in a forward-facing position, hieratic, and although the Child is missing, the posture of her arms and the traces on her lap indicate that He was sitting slightly displaced from the centre, without otherwise touching the mother. The Virgin wears a long veil which falls to her robe. Polychrome and gilding are posterior. There are areas where the original polychrome is preserved. Provenance: Former Junyent Collection. 55 x 28 x 18 cm.
