"Saint Catherine"
Carved, gilded and polychromed wooden sculpture.
A noble maiden, martyr of Alexandria in the year 305. The saint is depicted with the breaking wheel, the attribute of her torture, and wearing the crown of a virgin and a book that represents the wisdom with which she refuted the pagan philosophers.
Delicate image of the saint, she is depicted as young and beautiful, dressed in rich clothing.
The sculpture is not large, and is a quintessential example of Spanish renaissance imagery.
