Attributed to Arnao de Bruselas (1536 - 1564) “Saint Sebastian" Carved, gilded and polychromed sculpture. The saint is depicted, as is customary, at the scene of his martyrdom, tied to a tree and with arrow wounds, although these are not preserved. He is young and handsome, with delicately sculpted hair. The modelling work on the body and the treatment of the flesh are magnificent. On the back, on the lower part of the tree, there are some characters incised into the wood. Spanish Renaissance sculptor, of possibly with flemish origin, as it would mark his last name (Bruselas – Brussels). His career as a sculptor took place in Spain. It begins in the workshop of Damián Forment in Zaragoza. Later with Juan de Beugrant, first, and with the Guipuzcoano Andrés de Araoz. Master Arnao's works include, among others, the main altarpiece of the church of San Martín de Alberite, the main altarpiece of Elvillar (Álava), the main altarpiece of the Imperial Church of Santa María de Palacio de Logroño, where he installed his workshop , as well as San Lorenzo, San Valero and San Andrés sculptures, which he carved in stone for the trascoro of La Seo de Zaragoza.
