"Saint Sebastian". Carved and polychromed wooden sculpture. Castilian School. Renaissance. 16th century. The saint is depicted, as is customary, at the scene of his martyrdom, tied to a tree and displaying his arrow wounds, although these are not preserved. Young and handsome, with delicately sculpted hair that falls, tied back, in wavy locks, onto his left shoulder. The sculpture has masterly movement accentuated by the crossed position of the legs, with the left very far in front of the right. Small flaws, three fingers on the left hand have been remade. 88 x 33 x 33 cm.
