Instructions for use. Paris, Editions Georges Visat, 1967.
In-8 in sheets under stamped cover filled, folder and case of black paper studded with gold stars (publisher's slipcase).
Unique edition of 165 copies on Rives wove paper (no. 108).
The illustration includes 7 original etchings by Hans
Bellmer, one of which is printed in color, as well as a suite of prints on japanese Hosekawa, all signed.
The text is a reprise of the booklet published in 1944 in Revel under the title: 3 paintings, 7 drawings, 1 text, which accompanied Hans Bellmer's first personal exhibition.
As for the engravings - commissioned by Jean-Jacques Pauvert - they were executed in 1953 to illustrate the first edition of André Pieyre de Mandiarges' erotic tale, L'Anglais décrit dans le château fermé. The project having failed, they were then unpublished. Bellmer "draws the spider's web of a network of straight lines, which gives the compositions a more marked unreality than usual" (Pierre Dourthe, Bellmer, le principe de perversion, Jean-Pierre Faur, 1999, p. 255).
