Constantin BRANCUSI. Group portrait: Marcel Duchamp, Constantin Brancusi, Tristan Tzara, Man Ray. No place or date [Paris, Brancusi's workshop, 1921]. Original photograph, gelatino-bromide print (118 x 178 mm), with autograph on the back. Famous photograph taken in 1921 in Brancusi's studio showing, sitting side by side, Marcel Duchamp, Constantin Brancusi, Tristan Tzara with, in the right-hand edge, Man Ray whose face is only half visible. The photograph has sometimes been wrongly attributed to Man Ray. Precious autograph signed on the back: to Tzara affectionately C. Brancusi Tristan Tzara was, with Marcel Duchamp, one of the closest friends of his Romanian compatriot Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957). A rarity. The print shows a fold mark at the head and a stripe in the center. Corners a little damaged.
