Two angels presenting the Veil of Veronica, Memmingen, 1st quarter of the 16th century
Finely carved relief in lime wood with the original, coloured paintwork. A depiction of two floating angels, presenting the Veil of Veronica, imprinted with the face of Jesus. A small collection stamp and the handwritten annotation "Bernhard Striegel, Memmingen" on the back. Dimensions 21 x 87 cm.
Provenance: Aus altem Memminger Familienbesitz.

From an old Memmingen family estate.The coloured paint knocked in places on the edges, the wood with a few, scattered wormholes. The tip of one of the wings well restored, minor retouching of the paintwork.
