A large South German or Italian sculpture of St Sebastian, 1st half of the 16th century
The body carved in one piece, the arms attached separately. The tree on the plinth probably with a naturally grown structure. Beautiful age patina. The saint is depicted standing, tied to a tree, his attractive face finely delineated. The slenderly built body with a loincloth slung low around the hips and knotted at the side. His right arm shackled and raised above his head. Height 143 cm.

Condition Report:
A small defect on the lower point of the loincloth. The bolts and arrows have been lost. A restored shrinkage crack on the left foot. The small finger of the left hand incomplete, one fingertip is missing on the right hand. Some of the fingers broken and glued.
