An Italian wooden bust of a young nobleman in antique-style armour, 16th century The three-quarter bust carved in one piece in poplar wood (?), the original paintwork exposed. The back slightly hollowed. A depiction of a young nobleman, his bare head with long, curly hair. His cloak knotted at his left shoulder, over a suit of antique-style armour, the shoulder guards forged in the shape of a lion's head. Mounted on a gilt wooden pedestal with fine stucco and chased embellishment. Height 49 cm, including the pedestal 61 cm. Condition: II Condition Report: Immaculate condition, the original paintwork well preserved. Rubbed due to the exposure, with scant remnants of the original gilding. The gilding of the pedestal in good condition, with craquelure on the top.
