A true icon of the 80s, the Golf 1 Gti has made its mark. On September 11, 1975, the Frankfurt Motor Show opened its doors with a major attraction on the Volkswagen stand: the Golf GTI. The "Fastest Volkswagen of all time", it will look like a bomb. The Golf GTI, the idol of an entire generation, has been a real revolution in the automotive industry. Volkswagen, accustomed to curves, with its beetle, decided to return to the aesthetic standards of the time by creating a compact, sober car with taut lines and a touch of aggression. But where Volkswagen is very strong is that the manufacturer invented the name GTI: Grand Tourisme à Injection.
This Volkswagen Golf GTI 1600 cc was launched on December 8, 1980. Acquired by its first owner, he used it regularly until his death from cancer. His father recovered the car and used it from time to time until his death. His widow took the car back and stored it on hugs for 20 years. In 2013, its current owner bought it and began a long journey to get it back on the road. The mechanics were overhauled, as were the brakes and running gear. The painting was redone with a complete dismantling of the rods, wheel wideners, windows etc... Today, the Golf is in a very nice state of presentation, inside and outside, a technical control was carried out, only an excessive slip angle was found. With 136,000 kilometres on the odometer and a clear history, this is a fine example of the mother of all GTIs!
