An early Slavic-Russian silver necklace, comparable to a necklace from the Kremlin hoard, 12th century
A silver necklace made of 14 hollow silver beads and nine mask-like pendants with geometric decoration. Finest filigree and granulation technique. The closest parallel is a necklace from the early Slavic Kremlin hoard dating to the 12th century, today in the Kremlin Museum. Modern threading. With patina. Intact. Length about 31 cm. Weight 98 grams.
Provenance: From an old German collection. Acquired before 1980 on the art market.
