First edition of this rare text written by Dante in Latin around 1303-1304, here translated into Italian by Giovanni Giorgio Trissino. It is considered
considered to be the basis of the great linguistic and reforming work accomplished by the poet. The Latin text was not published until 1577.
This first volume was printed by Tolomo Janiculo with the very beautiful CANCELLARESQUE ENGRAVED BY LODOVICO DEGLI ARRIGHI. It uses, for the first time, the new typeface proposed by Trissino.
All the letters o are omega.
Bound afterwards, printed with the same font, a pamphlet relating to the same subject:
