"Very dear and admired Master I regret not being able to be with you, I am leaving Wednesday at 8 p.m. for Brunswick. Impossible unless I fail to meet my commitments to delay this departure by twenty-four hours.

Berlioz wrote from Dresden on February 18, 1843 to Auguste Morel: "I have just received a letter from Meyerbeer announcing that a party ordered by the king is delaying my rehearsals for a few days; he commits me to go accordingly to Brunswick, where I am expected, and where King Lear has already won me some warm supporters. In the meantime, he will have gone to Leipzig, where he meets Schumann. The Brunswick concert took place on March 9th.]
