JUDAICA Request signed by several merchants from the city of Orange and addressed to the Parliament against the Jews who come to trade in their city. Autograph manuscript on paper. 5 pp. 1⁄2 in folio. Mid 17th century. Purification task with no hindrance to the text. Rare. Jews living in the county of Venaissin have for some years obtained the right to enter the city to settle personal matters. But the merchants accuse them of usury, of giving away stolen goods, of working on Sundays, etc. As a consequence, they want all Jews to be forbidden to enter the town of Orange to trade, sell or debit any goods and to engage in aulcung commerce or traffick.
