The history of the Gilera firm began in 1909 when Giuseppe Gilera founded his company and brought out his first motorcycle: the VT 317 with a 317cc rocker engine. From the very beginning, Gilera turned towards the world of competition with some success. In 1936, the brand bought the study of a racing machine with a four-cylinder engine from the CNA. The rondine, a futuristic, liquid-cooled motorcycle with two camshafts and a compressor. This motorcycle will set a number of world records and serve as the basis for Gilera's four-cylinder production. After the Second World War, a Gilera won the 500cc world championship three times in a row with Geoff Duke on the handlebars. In 1957, Gilera decided to retire from the world of competition despite an impressive track record, including 44 victories in international Grand Prix.
Buyers are reminded that the entire collection consists of motorcycles that have remained static in the collector's private museum for several years. A restart is therefore necessary.
