HENRI-EDMOND CROSS (Douai, 1856 - Saint-Clair, 1910) HENRI-EDMOND DELACROIX, DIT VIEW OF A PARK Gouache and watercolour on paper Artist's stamp lower right 41 x 30.5 cm Characterised by its large rectangular brushstrokes, this painting by Henri-Edmond Cross illustrates the artist's adherence to neo-Impressionism. Moving away from the scientific approach of Georges Seurat (1859-1891), the painter's style is more intuitive. The form of the brushstroke contributes to giving rhythm and balance to the composition. "More than the science of his colours, it is their finesse and their undulation in the light that touch the viewer." (Antoine Terrasse).
