Sciences secrètes The term "secret" seeks to oppose while legitimizing. The Egyptian initiations, the Greek mysteries, the Jewish kabbalah, divination, etc., ignored or mocked by the "official" authorities, nevertheless possess their own logic, and are of course "superior to any other science" for their supporters who try to give them a scientific veneer (Durville, La Science secrète, p. 228). This batch offers a synthesis of their efforts, bringing together personalities as diverse as the architect Edouard Arnaud (1864-1943), the occultist Henri Durville (1887-1963), the doctor Paul Carton (1875-1947), the orientalist Jean Marquès-Rivière (1903-2000), or the surrealist Sarane Alexandrian (1927-2009).
