Grèce mythologique
Its myths, mystery religions, philosophers and sybilline oracles make Greece a never-dry reservoir for the exegetical fury of esotericists. The works offered in this lot represent a sum of knowledge on mythology. The set is illustrated by the famous names of the orientalist Max Müller (1823-1900) and the folklorist Alexander Haggerty Krappe (1894-1947), famous for his English translations of the Grimm brothers' fairy tales. The translation Of the Gods and the World, a short treatise on Neoplatonic piety written by Saloustios in the 4th century, is one of the first in French.
