MACHAULT (Jean Baptiste de). Eloges et discours sur la triomphante reception du Roy en sa ville de Paris, apres la réduction de la Rochelle : accompagnz des figures, tant des Arcs de Triomphe, que des autres préparatifs. A Paris, Chez Pierre Rocolet, Impr. & Libraire, 1629. Small folio, ivory vellum, double framed with gilt fillets à la Du Seuil adorning the boards, fleur-de-lys at the corners, coat of arms in the centre, smooth spine decorated with lilies and coat of arms at the foot, gilt edges (period binding).
Thirteen engraved plates (out of 16).
The hors-texte illustrations are attributed to Abraham BOSSE, engraved by Pierre FIRENS and Melchior TAVERNIER. Only the most important engraving, representing the aldermen of Paris kneeling before the King, is signed by Bosse.
EXAMPLE with the ARMS of the CITY OF PARIS on the boards &, reported at the foot of the spine, those of an admiral of France of the royal house (the count of Toulouse, or César de Vendôme, grand master of navigation in 1650).

Mottling and small accidents on the binding; bookplate cancelled on the title and on some plates with burn marks and small lacks on the first four leaves.
